Position Summary
The Disciple-Maker / Bicycle Repair Technician will model disciple-making practices with individuals and churches in their geographical area in order to steward the conditions for a disciple-making movement to take place.
The bicycle technician will also repair bicycles at the Agape Bici bicycle shop and teach others how to repair the bikes.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience with disciple-making processes a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Shall maintain a regular and ever-deepening relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer, reading and study of the scriptures, fasting, and other spiritual disciplines.
- Shall abide in Christ together with your team including regular times of prayer, fasting, worship, accountability, and other practices.
- Shall personally engage with and utilize OMS-approved processes to evangelize non-believers and help others to grow in their faith and progress as reproducing disciples of Jesus.
- Shall work with the Disciple-Making team to plan and execute a disciple-making process in local churches and networks.
- Shall work with partners to start disciple-making ‘bands’ within the churches, train up leaders, and identify future individuals who can help provide leadership locally in this area.
- Shall spiritually prepare the church for partnership with Church Development to help the church to reach their local community.
- Shall give input for developing new strategies and training opportunities in disciple-making.
- Shall help plan conferences, trainings, and work with stewardship teams.
- Shall seek out and recommend new resources and processes, passing gathered information to leadership for consideration of broad-based implementation for disciple-making.
- Shall implement processes for determining which materials undergo translation.
- Shall work with the Disciple-Making and Church Development teams to develop and maintain and effective process and relationship.
- Shall assist as needed in other OMS Country Team ministries, where applicable and appropriate.
- Shall Complete bicycle repairs for people who come to Agape Bici.
- Shall repair bicycles that have been donated to Agape Bici to give away for free to others.
- Shall manage purchases and inventory of tools and parts needed to complete the repairs.
- Must be willing to learn the local language to an intermediate level.

The intern and short-term team (STT) coordinator manages all aspects of the intern and STT programs in Catania. This includes working with the interns and STTs before and while in the country. He/she will also maintain the relationships between Search Party and the sending organizations and look for new organizations with which to partner.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience with disciple-making processes a plus.
- Experience working with youth in a ministry setting is preferred but not required.

- Assist in developing/improving intern and STT curriculum and programs.
- Lead interns and STTs through the pre-field process: pre-field orientation, pre-field training, budgeting, reserving housing and transportation, background checks, etc.
- Oversee interns while in country: training, outreach, fun-days, conflict resolution, etc.
- Maintain intern tracking spreadsheets.
- Must be willing to learn the local language to an intermediate level.

- Accompanying the interns and STTs during outreach requires a lot of walking, sometimes up to five miles per day or more.

The Missionary Gardener spiritually engages the immigrant and Italian communities through the use of food production gardens. Their primary roles include: the evangelization and discipleship of incoming and current garden apprentices, the spiritual engagement of the broader community through produce sales and community programs, and the planning/designing of current or future gardens sites. We are looking for workers either who already have knowledge of small-scale, intensive organic agriculture. If you do not already have an understanding, you will need a passion and willingness to learn and try along with the perseverance to learn in the midst of many challenges!

- Basic accounting skills, as one of our primary modes of outreach is the running of a small farm.

- Identify new potential Local Partners to disciple, train, and coach them to become reproducing disciple-makers in a 1-3-9 discipleship relationship.
- Participate in and strategically promote reproducing churches
Gardener responsibilities
- Evangelize and disciple incoming and current garden apprentices.
- Teach incoming and current garden apprentices small-scale, intensive agriculture.
- Manage apprentices as employees.
- Manage the business aspects of the farm: sales, accounting, and production tracking.
- Create yearly crop plan based on sales market.
- Engage and interface with the Italian church as it relates to the garden program.
- Engage broader community evangelistically through the use of garden programs.
- Plan, design and work in current and future garden spaces.
- Participate in team meetings and events.

Working Conditions
- Sicily is very hot in the summer and the work is outdoors.
- We rise early in the summertime.
- Good physical health is required as farm work requires lifting, building, stooping, and kneeling.
In Luke 10:2 Jesus says:
The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.
Taking its cues from Jesus and Luke 10:2 the Search Party team prays and mobilizes workers to go to the unreached by receiving, training, and sending Short-Term Teams into te harvest field.
Short-term teams perform direct, practical outreach, working cross-culturally amongst several different unreached people groups, sowing the seed of the Gospel, our testimony, the word of God, and more. Currently, these trips all take place in Italy, but we are seeking staff members who will be willing to both work nationally, across multiple cities in Italy, as well as internationally, coordinating trips in the future to other countries, possibly in the Middle East or Asia.

- Maintain a regular and ever-deepening relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer, reading and study of the scriptures, fasting, and other spiritual disciplines.
- Abide in Christ together with the team including regular times of prayer, fasting, worship, accountability, and other practices.
- Personally engage non-believers in evangelism and discipleship.
- Identify new potential Local Partners to disciple, train, and coach them to become reproducing disciple-makers in a 1-3-9 discipleship relationship.
- Participate in and strategically promote reproducing churches.
Role Responsibilities
- Promote the short-term team opportunity to work with the ministry team in Catania or in other cities where Search Party is working.
- Assist the Short-term Team Leader in organizing the logistics for each team that will come.
- Train the team and collaborate with each team’s leader to develop a ministry plan for the team.
- Work alongside of the team while they are traveling in Catania or other parts of Italy.
- Promote the work of the Search Party team to secure long-term partnership with the sending church or organization of the short-term team.
- Participate in team meetings and events.
Required competencies:
- Able to promote and recruit the short-term team opportunity in Italy or other locations.
- Experience in project management and collaboration with internal and external partners.
- Ability to develop partnerships with the team’s sponsoring organization.
