Welcome to your pre-field training course! This course has been developed by the team in Italy in an attempt to prepare you for your time in the field. Our goal for your team is to help our team and our partner workers establish new relationships. Our hope is to continue these new relationships, strengthening the new disciples and see them go on to make disciples themselves for years to come!

We have composed this course in six lessons, each lesson made up of practical tools to prepare you to work with us and our ministry here in Italy.

While you should find the materials in this course very useful for your time in Italy, you should also understand that there is nothing within the disciple-making materials created by the team within this course that is proprietary or special and can only be applied to your Italy trip. Instead, our hope is that you will continue to use these materials to make disciples after you return home!

Our goal for your trip to Italy is start new relationships based on a discussion about Jesus, so each lesson will help you with practical application regarding the way in which you will work while you are on the ground working with our team.

Our team suggests that you use this course in the following way:

1. Map out your time before landing in Italy and start this training course 6-12 weeks in advance of your arrival.

2. You are free to decide how to best manage your team’s training process, but we suggest that each individual should complete the videos and readings in advance of a team meeting to review and discuss the lesson materials.

3. Meet together as a team to discuss the lesson. It is best if you can all meet together in one place, but if needed, you can use Skype, FaceTime, Zoom, or some other type of virtual meeting. You should plan 1 to 1 1/2 hours for your meeting. We suggest the following steps in a team meeting.

  • Pray that God will lead you in your discussion.
  • Confirm completion of the assignment from the previous week. Celebrate all new work and discoveries about making disciples or working with Muslims or any new disciples! Encourage each other to keep going and keep practicing.
  • Review the disciple-making video(s) for this lesson. Answer any questions and then break up into groups of 2-3 to practice the tool or skill for the week.
  • End the meeting by praying that God will continue to lead the team and help you to be faithful to continue in completing this training.
