Let’s go back to the beginning to remember Jesus’s command to his disciples before returning to earth:
All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20
Question: How does Jesus tell his disciples that they should make disciples?
Jesus tells his disciples that they should teach the new disciples to obey everything that he has commanded. He didn’t say that they should teach them to know everything he commanded, but instead to obey everything that he commanded.
Question: How should this command affect or change the way that we make disciples?
If we are making disciples as Jesus commanded, we must not just teach them about Jesus, but we must teach them to obey what Jesus commanded. This makes a significant difference in how we teach others.
