Each July for the past six years, our family has taken part in the English Summer Camp put on by the folks at Sinai. We help by teaching English and sports, leading groups, and sharing the Gospel with Italian, immigrant, and refugee children from the area. Gina, Evan, and Julia have all had important roles leading the children, and it’s been especially rewarding to watch Evan and Julia lead their own groups this year! We were also joined for the first week by friends from our Catania team—including two of the Sternberg daughters—and by Dante, one of Evan’s good friends from the US whom he met while Dante’s family lived in Catania. Great fun!

Meanwhile, Evan turned 16 a couple of days ago. After a long day at camp, we celebrated with a birthday dinner and cake together. It’s hard to believe he was only 5 when we arrived here—and now he’s past 16. Amazing!
