Level 1 Training

In Luke 10, Jesus sent out his disciples, and the first thing that Jesus tells them to do as they are sent is that they should pray for more workers because the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.

The Search Party team is regularly praying for more workers, and we want to be ready when God answers those prayers. Our goal is to see those workers prepared and also sent out into the harvest to share with others and make disciples, as Jesus said to do. To prepare these new workers, we offer both existing and new believers a set of tools that they can use to begin to make disciples.

Training Goals

The goals of the training include:

  • Creating a new team who will use the tools that they have been taught to go and make disciples.
  • As new disciples are made, they are gathered into groups for the purpose of starting new churches and reaching their communities with the Gospel.

Training Content

The content for the Level 1 training includes:

Note that The 4-1-1 is actually a package of tools and contains within it several components, including our identity in Christ, Generation Map, 15-Second Testimony, and The Three Circles. We did also create a Guide for leading 3/3rds Groups that may be helpful for new folks.

Training Process

Trainings can be customized to account for the amount of time available as well as the current level of understanding for the people involved. However, the process that we prefer to use, called Three Touch Training, works in this way:

Touch 1: Training Day – 6 hours

  • A team comes to provide vision and give tools, as outlined above.
  • The training team demonstrates the tools, but each of the participants also practice what they have learned.

First Implementation Time – 8 weeks

  • Trainees meet together weekly in the 3/3rds Group format, starting with the Commands of Christ.
  • Trainees also go out into the harvest to pray for others and share with others in the hope that new believers will come to Christ.
  • A trainer will connect weekly with the leaders of the trainees to answer questions or provide clarifications on the tools or processes.

Touch 2: Training Day – 6 hours

  • A team comes again to provide vision and give tools, as outlined above.
  • However, this time, the training team will lead approximately 50% of the training while the team being trained will lead approximately 50% of the training.
  • Everyone again practices what has been learned in the training in preparation for the second implementation time.

Second Implementation Time – 8 weeks

  • Trainees continue to meet together weekly in the 3/3rds Group format.
  • Trainees also continue to go out into the harvest to reach non-believers.
  • A trainer continues to follow up with the leaders to answer questions, encourage the group, and provide insight on specific situations that the group may be encountering.

Touch 3: Training Day – 6 hours

  • The training team comes one final time. This time, though, the team being trained will lead the entire training while the training team will provide additional ideas or insight and answer questions.
  • Each person again practices what has been learned in the training in preparation for the third implementation time.

Third Implementation Time – 8 weeks

  • Trainees continue to meet together weekly in the 3/3rds Group format.
  • Trainees also continue to go out into the harvest to reach non-believers.
  • A trainer continues to follow up with the leaders to answer questions, encourage the group, and provide insight on specific situations that the group may be encountering. The trainer will also begin to prepare the team to continue forward as a new group and make plans to continue the discipling and coaching process outside of the Training process described here.
